World Youth Day Fun Run, 1 May 2011, PICC Grounds

I remember in 1995, together with my brother and friends, we all went to Quirino Grandstand to join fellow youths from the country and rest of the world in celebrating World Youth Day (WYD) with the most loved Pope of this day and age: Pope John Paul II.

WYD 1995 was considered the biggest Papal gathering which until now holds true.  We Filipinos did not intend to achieve such feat at that time, but was blessed nevertheless, and instantly became special to the rest of the world, that Filipinos were expected in succeeding WYD events.  Sad truth is, our delegates don't have much resources to send themselves to WYD.

Fast forward to 2011, the Catholic Church will celebrate WYD in Madrid, Spain, and the Beatification of Pope John Paul II.  Since this is an important milestone in our Church's history, the Archdiocese of Manila deemed it necessary to do a fundraising project to help send our delegates to Madrid.
