RuNew 2012 | 26 Feb 2012 | Filinvest Alabang

Running a half-marathon in the south of Metro Manila excites me.  Running the distance in the usual venues like  BGC-Makati, MOA-Manila, and QC somehow bores me already, and the primal instincts in me wanted to explore new territories.  And the big irony of it is that I live in the south!

Very seldom do organizers arrange a  half-marathon event in our area, since most runners find it inconvenient to travel down south.  I find it unfair, honestly, since most of us in the south do go out of our way to be in the usual running venues.

Is proximity really an issue?  In our case, travel time from our place to BGC is 30 to 45 minutes.  Going to MOA is around 15 to 30 minutes, and to QC is from 45 to 60 minutes.

If a QC run (or Nuvali, Sta Rosa which is way way down south) could draw interest from the running community, I am very positive a run in Alabang could also do the same.  Our routes promises breathtaking views, well paved roads, and much fresher air.

The 3rd staging of Asian Hospital and Medical Center's RuNew 2012 is happening on February 26, 2012.  Race starts and ends in Filinvest Corporate City in Alabang, Muntilupa, and passes through the beautiful Ayala Alabang Village.

This event is powered by RunRio, for the benefit of Asian Hospital Charities, Inc. who selflessly share the hospital's facilities, and expertise of their doctors and staff, to the less fortunate patients.

Registration is ongoing until February 19, 2012.  Please see the poster for more details.

Hope to see you here!

Hi Jet,

May I add also that the proceeds will go to treatment of charity patients being helped by the Asian Hospital Charities Inc for 2012. One of them is a youngster who has a SEVERE spinal deformity who will need complex spinal fusion surgery. I hope we will be able to take care of his needs soon.

So you will run the 21k? Thanks Jet ;)

Yes Uncle Jo, I will run 21k. Thank you for adding information on the advocacy of Asian Hospital Charities. I will also pray for the patient's speedy recovery.
