THE world of sports has indeed taken a new turn.
True to its slogan, Sports Interactive Network Philippines, or more popularly known as SPIN.ph, has changed the landscape of sports reporting in the country with its real-time delivery of the hottest sports news and insightful feature stories.
A full-staff, standalone sports website that is the first of its kind in the country, SPIN.ph has in no time attracted a huge community of sports enthusiasts seeking regular sports updates online as well as in-depth features and interesting columns, photo galleries, videos, and podcasts.
Summit Media president Lisa Gokongwei–Cheng said the birth of SPIN.ph comes at a glorious time for Philippine sports owing to the success of Manny Pacquiao, the rise of the Azkals and Volcanoes, the resurgence of the PBA, the unprecedented popularity of college basketball, and historic events like the recent NBA preseason game in Manila.
“So it’s a great moment to have a website like SPIN.ph which in less than two years has become the biggest sports website in the Philippines,” said Gokongwei-Cheng in a video shown during SPIN.ph’s trade launch on Thursday (October 17) at URBN Bar & Kitchen at The Fort.
As a newcomer in the industry, SPIN.ph, the 4th project of the joint venture between Summit Media and GMA network, ranked #7 when it started on June 2012. In just over a year of operations, SPIN.ph has become the country’s #1 sports website according to September 2013 data of Effective Measure.
Motivated to match the phenomenal success of its sister website Philippine Entertainment Portal or PEP.ph, SPIN.ph is definitely off to a great start.
“Just like PEP, the success of SPIN lies in the quality of content and the speed of delivery of this content to readers,” said SPIN.ph general manager Marilyn Dee-See.
At present, SPIN.ph has hit its peak of 7.4M page views and 700,000 unique visitors** a month — its highest figures since the site’s launch in June 2012.
Being accessible on desktop, smartphones or tablets, SPIN.ph also has a growing fan base on Twitter (15,679 followers)*** and Facebook (60,830 likes)***.
The Spin.ph trade launch was co-presented by Phoenix Petroleum. Major sponsors include Burlington, Mizuno and PenshoppeAcquaBene. Special thanks to our event partners: URBN Bar and Kitchen, Gatorade, Havaianas, Bobble Bottle, Gold’s Gym, Devant, Nyogi, My Phone, Booster C and J.Co Donuts & Coffee.
