Make Love Run 4: Bataan para sa kabataan

Bataan Death March (BDM)

Bataan - the place where bravery at its finest was shown by Filipino and American soldiers who marched 102 kilometers from Mariveles, Bataan to San Fernando, Pampanga under the rule of the Japanese Imperial Army during World War 2.

While we Filipinos have April 9 as our date to commemorate their bravery, marathoners of all levels will re-trace the route on Mar 7, 2010 to pay tribute to our heroes, via the 2nd BDM 102k ultra-marathon event.

Show of Gratitude

One of the objectives of BDM 102k ultra-marathon is to raise funds for the needs of Filipino living survivors of the Bataan Death March. Our heroes deserve every honor and gratitude, for they endured the war for our generation.

I also want to endure for the next generation.

As of this writing, I have already ran a total of 1,391.4 kilometers since I embraced the sport in March 22, 2009. I have completed 2 marathons and a number of half-marathons in between. The longest distance I have covered was 45 kilometers.

Make Love Run

Make Love Run
project aims to raise funds to provide support to certain individuals/groups to address their basic needs. The project was able to raise Php7,350.00 for the for the Medium Security Detainees of New Bilibid Prison, Php9,850.00 for Mheng Torres, and Php10,000.00 for Tita Padima Suleik. I'm sorry, I wasn't able to blog about the funds raised for Tita Padima, for she passed away a few weeks after SIM, due to complications. I really had a hard time getting inspiration to write at that time.

Make Love Run 4: Bataan para sa kabataan

For the 4th edition, I will Make Love Run for the children of SAGIP in the South of Metro Manila (CFC South A & B area). SAGIP stands for Sagipin ang Galing, Isip, at Pangarap ng kabataan. It is part of the Child and Youth Development program of Gawad Kalinga, catering to children aged 7 to 12 years old, who were taught with values formation through classroom and outdoor activities, to keep them from going to the streets, and aiming to mold them to become good Filipino citizens.

I support SAGIP to improve the quality of life of the less privileged, to restore their dignity, and to build our nation.
